Mood: Itchin' to get out..........
12th March 2005
Kite surfing: Ynyslas
Wind Direction: NW
Wind Stength: 20 - 25
Surf / Sea State: 2 ft swell
Air Temperature: 6
Sea Temperature:
Weather: Sun/Cloud
Max Speed: 18 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 16 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Should have been at least 3 stars however my own performance "launching" the kite spoiled the day..........

Arrived in a shower of sleet which eventually made way to a mix of sun and cloud .

Decided to play it safe and set up the G10 managing to get away with a first dodgy launch. After some good runs ended up to far down wind and helping Paul B look for his board, so a long walk back up the beach was required.

Stopped for lunch then things started to go astray

Q: What happens during a launch when you forget to "fold" the kite tip which is then laden with sand ?

A: It performs some very strange low aerial manoeuvres that... endanger anyone/anything in the near vicinity and result in the safety being activated by the flyer (me)

Problem being I was trying to launch with 1/2 cwt of "Borths finest" on the inner canopy instead of it spilling out from the outer side. (Doh! Rookie mistake & I only did it twice !)

Anyway - apologies to any concerned watchers.

Not the best of days but I'll be back...........
